John MacKay is the anchor on the STV News at Six and presenter of current affairs programme Scotland Tonight.
A journalist with more than 25 years experience, he has covered many of the most significant stories in Scotland of recent times, including the creation of the Scottish Parliament, the Dunblane Shootings, the Lockerbie Bombing and the independence referendum.
He has been the face of STV News for more than fifteen years and has anchored the programme from the scenes of major stories across Scotland and Europe.
After a short time at D.C. Thomson newspapers, he joined BBC Scotland where he worked across news, current affairs and sport on both radio and television.
His career has covered the leap from the hot-metal press of old to the instant communication social media.
John is the author of three bestselling novels, The Road Dance, Heartland and Last of the Line (all published by Luath Press)
